Here we describe the available network infrastructure for the testbeam areas. For questions/clarifications please contact Artur Barczyk or Niko Neufeld.
Fixed wired network arrives in 887, in the H8 counting house. We have a dedicated Gigabit service for data and controls: S887-R-IP3. If you want to register devices on this service, either please contact us (Artur Barczyk, Niko Neufeld) or do it yourself.
For "Location" enter: 0887 NA-0443
For "Outlet" enter: 0443/02
For "Responsible for the device" enter: lhcb-testbeam (firstname) support (lastname)
If you connect yourself, please inform us by sending a mail to lhcb-testbeam.support@cern.ch. We have to keep track of the devices on this service since it is managed partly by us.
There is a dedicated service is for portables/workstations (it provides DHCP and is available to any registered computer without any further intervention.):S887-R-PB2 Wireless will be available in the area shortly. You must perform the laptop registration with CERN IT/CS, if not already done. The cables connected to the portable service in the barrack are (should be!) labeled with CERN PORTABLE.
Fixed wired network arrives in 157. This is prolonged using a optical fibre directly into the T9 area to a HP2650 switch in the second rack to the right of the dipole. The service provided is called S157-R-IP5. To connect equipment to the switch in the area you will have to make a move or new connection request (mind that this interface works only for machines on the CERN intranet). You can either contact us, or do it yourself, in that case please observe the following:
For "Location" enter: 0157 EP-00T9
For "Responsible for the device" enter: lhcb-testbeam
