Installation





1. Create a new PVSS project (if not yet done).

2. Download fwInstallation Tool and extract it on your PVSS project directory.

3. Download fwDim and extract it (this will create a directory containing fwDim).

4. Download fwSpecs and extract it (this will create a directory called fwSpecs_v3r3).

5. Start your PVSS project.

6. Run the panel "fwInstallation\fwInstallation.pnl".

7. When asked for the "Destination directory" select your PVSS project directory.

8. To install fwDim:

    - Choose the directory where you extracted fwDim (in step 2) as the place to "Look for new components";

    - Install fwDim in your PVSS project;

    - After installation, restart your PVSS project.

9. To install fwSpecs:

    - Choose the directory where you extracted fwSpecs (in step 4) as the place to "Look for new components";

    - Install fwSpecs in your PVSS project;

    - After installation, restart your PVSS project.



NOTES:

    a) In order to run the SPECS Server properly, the SpecsLib & SpecsUser should be installed on the computer where the SPECS Server will run.

    b) To run the SPECS Server, you must have DNS (DIM Name Server) running. DNS is in the directory "bin" on your PVSS project directory.

    c) The SPECS Server ("SpecsServer.exe" for Windows; "SpecsServer" for Linux) is in the directory "bin" on your PVSS project directory.

    d) In order to see the list of valid parameters of the SPECS Server, just run the executable file with the "-help" parameter.

    e) The source code of the SPECS Server is in the directory "source" on your PVSS project directory.

    f) The SPECS Client ("SpecsClient.pnl") is in the directory "panels\fwSpecs" on your PVSS project directory.
